Over the summer I longed for the days of cooler weather, where I could fully enjoy the comfort that crocheting with a sturdy wooden hook and a ball of yarn always brings me.

So as I wave bye-bye to warm, sunny trips to the beach, I welcome the cooler weather with open arms and a jolly “Hello Autumn”! Every year I enjoy pulling out my stash of warm, golden yarns and wools, and this time around it was no different. Browsing through a couple dozen skeins always brings me an unlimited amount of inspiration, what about you?

After a bit of pondering, I landed upon this gorgeous colour called “Goldenrod” from the 24/7 Cotton collection by Lion Brand. Made from 100% mercerized cotton, it’s no wonder this yarn is incredibly soft and easy to work with!

All that was left was putting my thinking cap on, and designing a new accessory for me to live in this blustery autumn… And so, the Honey Bird Triangle Scarf/Shawl was born!

Whether it’s worn draped over the shoulders as a shawl or wrapped around the neck for extra warmth, this bohemian scarf is sure to keep you toasty while you sip on a warm spiced pumpkin latte. With picot detailing along the border and swishy tassels to add a touch of intrigue, this scarf radiates contemporary sophistication!

You can never have too many cosy accessories, so be sure to also whip up a Toffee Apple Pompom Beanie and a Spiced Pear Hat…

+ TASSELS

Taking your yarn, cut 25 strands of B yarn (12” long). Fold 22 of the strands in half/double, and take the 23rd and 24th strands and knot it around the centre of the fold.

Taking the 25th strand of yarn, wrap it around the group of 22 (now doubled to 24) strands of yarn, and knot it tightly. Trim each tassel to measure 5” (12.5cm). Attach tassels evenly across border of scarf.

Hope you all enjoy this pattern for a snuggly scarf, perfect for a blustery weekend getaway.

This Goldenrod color is amazing and suits very well with the white-cream edges of the scarf! I think the tassels are perfect for this project and they give a sophisticated appareance to the shawl. Lovely design! Thanks for sharing the pattern. All the best!

Silly question, I am confused as to how you are supposed to start the pattern because I read chain 3 but it doesn’t say if we are making a magic circle or not. Just need some clarification

can someone help me i have just got to row 8 and my stitch count from row 7 is right but i can't seem to get the 48 stitches it says i should have even though i'm following the pattern correctly. Any ideas where i could be going wrong?

I am having the same issue as Tessa and Sammi. I think there needs to be a DC in the stitch immediately following the stitches that are worked into the center chain 2 space. Also, make sure you are catching that the turning chains are counting as DC and chain 1, which means if you ch 3 in the previous row, you work stitches into the chain 1 space and the top if the turning chain. I didn't catch this at first and was 3 stitches off on one of my rows.

I found the error in row 4. I put a dc in the stitch after the 2dc ch2 2dc instead of in the ch 1 first because my count went off there right away.

All my even rows since row 8 so far are not working out on counts –
Improvised so that at the end I have the correct counts up to row 12 at this point and need to add stitches again

Thank you so much for the Honey Bird Triangle Scarf pattern. I purchased King Cole bamboo cotton for another project but have to do this scarf…even if my color is fuscia! I LOVE the goldenrod and the name (my kids and grandkids in Florida are beekeepers) but have to keep my eyes from feasting on yarns until I have destashed and/or used what I have. 🙂

Ok, something that has worked for me so far is on the even rows, after you do the middle stitch in the “chain 2” spot, instead of going into the chain 1 space of the previous row, go into the next stitch. And then continue the repeat. So far I’ve been getting symmetry and the correct number of stitches! Hope this helps someone.

This scarf is so cute, and it is fun for my first project! However, in addition to the pattern issue mentioned already, the stitch count of the odd rows is off starting on row 23. I ended up having to make my own cheat sheet for stitch count in each row, so I’m not really using any of the instructions that probably took you a while to make. It would be helpful for future users if the post was updated with these corrections.

I did the same thing as well. I found at the point where the pattern says in the next chain really isn’t the next chain it’s basically 2dc, chain 2 2dc and then the next on is the chain 2 spot as well. This keeps your count correct. Once you get to the edge ensure you are adding two dc in the last stitch. On the dc chain dc row, in the last stitch it’s dc, ch, dc. Then chain two, dc in same stitch and when she says dc in next chain spot, it’s actually the top of the chain 3 spot from previous row. This will keep your work straight and not a diamond shape.

There is a running typo starting in row 23 which copies row 21. Starting at row 23 you have to increase the repeat of the sequence by 3. Hence row 23 you repeat the sequence 31 times not 28, and so on on each odd numbered row.

Ok, one more comment! I kept getting off my stitches, no matter what I did, even after correcting the stitch count typo! SO, in the even rows, after the repeat section, the stitch pattern should go:

1 dc in next space. *1 dc in next “ch1” space, 1 dc in next st.

NOT “1 dc in next “ch1” space. *1 dc in next st. 1 dc in next “ch1” space. “

So for example, Row 4 should look like this:
Row 4: Ch2 (counts as 1st dc), 1 dc in same st. *1 dc in next “ch1” space. 1 dc in next st. Repeat from the * 3 more times. (2 dc, ch2, 2 dc) in “ch2” space from previous row. 1 dc in next space. *1 dc in next “ch1” space, 1 dc in next st. Repeat from the * 3 more times. 2 dc in next st (on ch3 from prev. row). Turn your work.

In the second round picture it looks like only 1 double crochet, not the 2 Double Crochets. Wondering what I’m doing wrong and if other people have had same trouble.

In reference to Tori ‘s comment on Nov 9,2018 I need clarification on how many stitches should be in row 23. She said there is a running error and you repeat the sequence 31 times instead of 28 . I’m not sure what that means. It would be helpful to know how many stitches in total should be in this row 23. I’m guessing a total of 66 ??
