As beautiful as pastels are, I’ve always been drawn to the warm and earthy colours that Autumn has to offer! There is such a variety of burnt oranges, warm mustards, golden honeys, light and dark olives and delicious chocolates that the inspiration for new projects never cease to stop rolling in!

When this chunky butterscotch yarn arrived in the mail a couple of weeks ago I was incredibly excited to create an adorable beanie inspired by the cooler weather and warmer colours that Autumn brings every year…

If you’re keen to also add some toasty colours to your home you can always crochet a cabled throw cushion cover or an extra chunky and whimsical woodland moss basket!

Hi. Love this hat but have a quick question…why do you use a 15mm hook when the recommended size for that yarn is 8mm? Just want to clarify before I go out and buy supplies.

      Hello,

Since I'm crocheting using back loop single crochets the fabric is much denser than if I were to crochet using double crochets. I liked the effect of the 15mm hook much more than a 8mm-10mm hook.
      Hope this helps,

      Olivia

I love making beanies and hats because you can get a massive amount of different stitches and learn new ones and a hat is made in a few hours so you have instant gratification.

I made one with a 12 mm hook as i didnt have a 15 at the time and it came out very slightly too small. Got a 15mm one and now I’ve started it’s forming loads of holes :/ any tips?

my “p” is 10mm.. assuming that won’t work?
Also, can this be done with a “magic” circle instead of slip stitching to begin round?

Never mind – i used a p marked 10mm, magic circle also, and it came out fine. Just crocheted loosely.
