Our creative friends at Furls are ready for National Crochet Month with lots of lovely new goodies to compliment their already popular original hooks!

A few weeks ago, the people behind Furls were lovely enough to ask if they could send me my very own “Heirloom Wooden Crochet Hook“, in whichever size and wood I fancied. Jumping at the opportunity, I asked if I could try a 5mm hook as I frequently tend to use this size for crocheting hats and a variety of other pretty projects.

When my delicately handcrafted hook came in the mail, I was in awe of its beauty as it quite literally took my breath away. Never before had I held a crochet hook like this, a masterpiece in it’s own right. The beautiful tear-trop design was so unique and elegant, that I couldn’t resist immediately taking my new crochet hook for a spin and jotting down my thoughts!

Every Furls hook is lovingly crafted by an artisan, sculpting them so in a way that each hook sits perfectly in your hand, resulting in less tired wrists… A big perk for any designer like myself, who spends hours every week crocheting using repetitive motions.

These hooks do carry a larger price tag than your standard aluminium hooks, but as an artist who hopes to share my love of crochet with my children one day, I see these as beautiful heirloom pieces that can be passed on from generation to generation.

Furls hooks are truly works of art, handcrafted with so much precision, care and love. While crocheting with this hook I noticed how the smooth, lightweight design made manoeuvring the hook easy to do, perfect for when crocheting those fiddly stitches. Yarn glides effortlessly off this hook and it feels very comfortable to crochet with… Almost like an extension of my hand!
This particular hook is made of Cocobolo Wood, which as you can clearly see has a beautiful grain and lovely, warm undertones.

  7. You are the best blogger out there in the yarn world! The Furl Crochet hooks are pieces of art and I always drooled just looking at them. I knit and crochet so much and give it all away, so income from that to budget in such gorgeous crochet hooks. Just wanted to say thanks for all that you do. 1shiviti@gmail.com

  13. W-O-W Olivia ! I love these hooks & have actually considered robbing a bank to buy ALL OF THEM !!!!!Long, long ago I thought I was buying a set & when I finally figured it out–it was only one–MY HEART WAS BROKEN! (Never did get one) MAYBE I CAN WIN ONE !!!!!!!! Thanks for the chance !
