One of the most tranquil places to pass time is sitting on a rustic park bench, surrounded by flowers, listening to the birds chirping away. It’s no secret at all that I love gardens, flowers and honeybees, so when I read “The Secret Garden” for the very first time as a little girl, I instantly fell in love with the idea of a private sanctuary, overflowing with an array of brightly coloured blossoms.

Throughout Spring, there is nothing more enjoyable than adding a a touch of whimsical charm to your little lady’s wardrobe in the form of a sweet Secret Garden Cardigan!

Every little girl would look incredibly sweet and adorable as she skips through a garden in this vintage outfit!.. And the best part, the cardigan is extremely fun and easy to crochet and can be whipped up in a weekend!

6mm (J/10) Crochet Hook
345yds [450yds, 540yds] DK (8ply) – Debbie Bliss “Rialto DK” (115yds/50g)
Tapestry Needle; 3 Buttons (0.5”/1.5cm);

Finished Size

Pattern is made for 9 – 12 months old. Changes for 18 – 24 and 24 – 36 months old size are in [ ].

9-12 Months
Cardigan Length: 10.5” (27cm)
Cardigan Width (Chest): 19.5” (50cm)

18-24 Months
Cardigan Length: 11.75” (30cm)
Cardigan Width (Chest): 21.5” (55cm)

24-36 Months
Cardigan Length: 13” (33cm)
Cardigan Width (Chest): 22.5” (57cm)

Skill Level

This is an “Intermediate” level crochet pattern (includes “How-To” photos). You must be familiar with basic crochet stitches and techniques. Directions written so that they are easy to read and follow. All patterns are in English, and written in standard US terms.

  16. I am relatively new to crochet and have made a beret and some amigurumi toys, but would love to try some little booties or a baby blanket…..this little cardigan would be perfect for my little granddaughter! Great giveaway – thank you x

  18. I am looking forward to making this for next spring for our youngest GRAND…this spring her wardrobe is full of beautiful outfits that may get worn once if there is time before she outgrows them. Next year there won't be so many gifts to enjoy Mimi will have fun filling the closet. :>)
