Cocoa Baby Ankle Booties Crochet Pattern

With the autumn months upon us, the weather has been so glorious this past week, that I’ve been leaving my desk at every available opportunity, making the most of these last few weeks of warmth before the cold sets in.

Whenever I think of autumn, cosy nights by the fireplace instantly come to mind. There’s nothing I love more than snuggling underneath a fluffy blanket, with a mug of hot cocoa keeping my icy fingers nice and toasty, and crochet project laying readily by my side.

Is there anything quite as nostalgic as the smell of hot cocoa? The smell takes me back to when I was just a little girl and my mum would make my brother and myself each a warm mug, filled to the brim, as we enjoyed a snuggly evening in the fort we had just built from a mountain of blankets and pillows. Hot cocoa is as much a part of every childhood is, as playing in a sandbox or flying a kite.

Recently I was feeling a bit sentimental and decided to whip up a quirky pair of ankle baby booties, inspired by the warm tones on display every autumn.

I happened to have some Sirdar Cotton DK in my stash, which was the perfect fit for this little project… Not too chunky, and the skeins came in the most beautiful neutral shades!

Thank you for these adorable baby boots. They look so nice and I would like to make them for my nephew for Christmas. I just have a question about the camel stitch. I did not know this stitch before and when I look it up I can only find instructions to work with hdc and not with or into single stitches (and I really do not see that extra loop 🙂 ). So I am failing to get the right start of the upper part of the booties. Could you help me with this part? That would be awesome

I think the solution is to do a very loose single crochet but when I make these again I will just do a half double in round 1 of the top.

Camel stitch is working in the 3rd loop (closest to you under the 2 bars on the top of the work).

These turned out really well after I learned to count correctly 🤭. I highly recommend stitch markers to help with knowing the beginning of the row.

I am not sure of the benefit of the camel row, except for visual texture and it took a lot of time, atleast for me. I think next time I will do another row of SC back loop only.

Otherwise beautiful shoe for my new granddaughter.

I did it with sc. it is a tight stitch but doable. If you do the 1st round a little loose you can get in there.

Ok I’m so confused on the right bootie -button cuff. I get it says sl st 15th from center back and I get the ch part. I don’t get all the jumble after that. And if I am understanding it and you do around to inside on opposite side. Where are the other 28 stitches and how did you get 48 total for the row.

I’ve made the booty yo the part where I’ve chained 14 for the cuff and worked back 12 sc stitches down. Crochet in stitch 15, but now I’m lost. Don’t know how to proceed. Is there maybe a video?

These look lovely but I am having trouble with the pattern. I have made several attempts but still the number of stitches I end up with is more than stated. Tried everything without success then actually added up the number of stitches I should have and it doesn’t correspond with what’s stated. Really frustrating. Could you check this (particularly on the foot section) and correct the pattern please?

Hello Olivia (my daughters name). I’ve just finished your booties, it was a fun challenge learning new stitches. I am in a foreign country for the winter, so limited supplies…I bought a cotton yarn that turned out to be only 4 ply, seemed to work tho.
My question is the top of the toe is puckered? Yours looks lovely and smooth, how do I make this better? I only used one colour (because I was learning)

This pattern is so cute…I did have a hiccup though when starting the cuff for the right bootie… I finally figured out that the pattern works if you start the cuff from the inside facing you. The cuff for the left bootie worked out facing the outside. Hope this helps those that are stumped…😁

So sorry. I read the instructions wrong. There is no mistake in step 4 of the sole. Excuse my error please. I really love your patterns. Thank you for sharing them.

When should I switch to a G needle? Is it for the whole top of the bootie? Also I finished a right bootie all in C and it looks very round, would that because of not switching needles?

They are absolute adorable! Unfortunately I van move on with the part for the camel Stitch after a series of single crochet. Actually, I’ve got the same question as Hanne. Is there a solution?

Hi, the link to the cocoa baby ankle boot pattern does not show the pattern. Can you tell me how to download it please?

    Hello,

I completely don’t understand this passage as we just finish the sole with the same yarn, why do we need to stop and attach a new one ?

« Attach yarn (Light Taupe) right in the middle of the sole/heel, crocheting from the outside of the bootie »

Plus what is the middle of the sole exactly ? Could be on this side, on the front. And crocheting from then outside what does it mean as we are crocheting in circle we are always on the outside 😖 confuse about this part and cannot go further 😭

I have made 3 attempt at this pattern but they all have come out pointy and a size for a two year old. My yarn & needle are the right size and my stitch count is correct as well. No one else seems to have this problem. What am I doing wrong. Please help.

Do you have a tutorial for the camel boot. I find it a little difficult to understand directions on how to do the top of bootie on to finish
