Ivory Ocean Beanie – Free Crochet Pattern & Yarn Review

August 23, 2016

Weeks ago Wool And The Gang sent me some skeins of their Shiny Happy Cotton yarn, and it was love it first sight, touch and stitch!

Frequently I’ve worked with cotton yarn when designing (especially hats and booties!), which made me extra keen to see how this yarn stacked up against some of my usual favourites.

These are only some of the colours available  but as you can already see, the colours are very elegant and rich which would make any project pop!

Here are some of my thoughts about this yarn in particular:
  • Without a doubt in my mind, this yarn is by far the softest and smoothest cotton yarn I have ever worked with. The stitch definition I achieved while working with this (100% Peruvian pima) cotton is incredible. I would highly recommend you try it out at least once if you’re a ‘cotton’ junkie like myself… Trust me, you’ll never want to go back!
  • Despite being as soft as marshmallow, this yarn has a luxurious thickness and warmth to it. I’d be extremely keen to try crocheting a scarf with this Shiny Happy Cotton. Just imagine how cosy that would be?
  • Each skein is over a 150 yards in length, meaning you can easily crochet a headband or hat and still have some yarn left over!
So without further ado, here is my latest pattern for an adorable beanie which features this lovely yarn seen above!

I see your patterns often in Ravelry but to my dismay, I’ve never seen this little beauty. It is exactly what I have been looking for in every way; it’s stylish, feminine, classy and so cute. I also just found all your amazing tutorials, your very giving with your knowledge and talent, thank you so much!!!

This is so cute. I want to make one for my daughter-in-law. I haven’t tried this yarn before. I plan to look at their color choices, and make a decision. Thanks for sharing.

I come across this hat of yours and I thing it is just lovely. The color is really nice too. I’d like to see what other colors would look like too. So, I’ll get started…and thank you for this beautiful design….as are the other things you design as well.

It looks so soft. Where in the USA might I find super soft cotton yarn that isn’t a blend?

I’m trying to find your crochet pattern for the IVORY OCEAN SLOUCHY BEANIE but can’t seem to. I’ve found the image on your website but it only talks about the yarn you used. Can you possibly helped me?
