We Are Knitters Giveaway – Sphinx Blanket Crochet Kit
When We Are Knitters reached out to me to see if I would be interested in hosting a giveaway with them I was especially excited as I’ve been a massive fan of their website for the longest time.
If you haven’t heard of them yet you might just be living under a rock, as their beautiful site is overflowing with trendy crochet and knitting patterns, lovely soft yarns and great beginner tutorials! I also love the fact that they have something for everyone – from the most experienced crocheters to absolute beginners!
So when the lovely people over at We Are Knitters asked me which kit I’d like to give away I immediately said “The Sphinx Blanket!” as I truly felt that it was a pattern each and every single one of your would enjoy.
We Are Knitters even asked me if there was any kit in particular that I would like to receive for my own personal use, and I immediately jumped at the opportunity to crochet my own chunky Samasana Blanket!
About a week ago I heard a knock at the door, and I was greeted with a large parcel. I excitedly opened it to find this brown paper bag inside, stocked to the brim with everything needed to crochet this blanket.
Inside were 8 of the softest balls of wool I had ever felt, cleverly named “The Wool“, and 100% Peruvian! Included also were a chunky handmade beechwood hook (15mm), tapestry needle, adorable “We Are Knitters” tag (to sew onto your finished project) and crochet pattern.
I couldn’t wait to get started on my blanket, as other than a baby blanket I made years ago, I haven’t crocheted a single other blanket in my entire crochet journey (The horror, I know!).
I’ve always loved working with chunkier hooks and wools, and I was also tempted by the possibility of a project that wouldn’t take weeks to finish, as we’re currently experiencing winter now in Australia and I crave something soft to keep me nice and warm!
I’ve often found when working with larger hooks in the past, that it feels bulky and unnatural to work with… The same cannot be said about this lovely hook! It became an extension of my hand, and I loved that fact that it was varnished so the wool glided smoothly while I worked away.
I was also very impressed by how large each “The Wool” ball was (200g to be exact!), and how luxurious it felt and looked! The colours I went with were Salmon and Natural, which I think creates a very pleasant and feminine appearance.
This is my beautiful Samasana Banket (almost finished!)… I am delighted with how it turned out and am so proud to have finally finished *almost* crocheting a blanket!
Since this blanket is so chunky and made of 100% Peruvian wool, it is extremely warm and cosy.
If you have been wanting to try out one of “We Are Knitters” kits for some while, I have some exciting news for you… They’ve provided my readers with a special code “HONEY4WAK” to get 20% off your order! (This discount only applies on non sale items)
There really were so many great kits to choose from!.. Some of my other favourites included the Iriri Poncho and the Walnut Blanket… But in the end, I just couldn’t resist not going with the Sphinx Blanket Kit for the giveaway!
The Sphinx Blanket Kit Contains:
- 5 balls of 100% Peruvian wool (How can you not get excited at the sound of that?)
- 15mm (E/19) wooden crochet hook
- The Sphinx Blanket pattern
- A small knitter’s sewing needle (To sew in all those ends!)
- An embroidered label
- “We Are Knitters” packaging (To keep all your crochet goodies together)
very nice.
The Sphinx blanket is gorgeous. I wish the pattern was available by itself. I'd like to make it using a different yarn. (I can't tolerate wool).
