After my “Pretty Pig Headband” was such a success  I got dozens of requests for even more animal inspired projects. So I quickly set to work, and created this friendly frog headband!
What’s your favourite animal?

If after creating this headband you’re still in a froggy mood, why not create some matching frog baby booties? Or maybe try your hand at crocheting more animal inspired headbands like a Teddy Bear or Piggy?

What You’ll Need

3.50mm Crochet Hook
100g DK {8ply} – I used Rowan Handknit Cotton
Scissors
Tapestry/Wool Needle
2 Wooden Buttons

Colours

{This is the list of colours I used}
Goosberry
White
Size
This headband fits Newborn – Adult.

{Easily adjustable, as explained in pattern}

Width: 3.5″

Gauge

 4 Stitches & 2 Rows in Puff Stitch Crochet  = 2 Inches

Headband
Taking your 3.50mm crochet hook and DK yarn (goosberry), start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 8 Chains {Note: Add or take away sets of 2 foundation chains if you’d like to create a thinner or wider headband.}.
Row 1– Chain 2, Crochet 1 Puff Stitch in the 3rd chain from your hook. {Note: Make sure to have 9 loops on your hook, instead of 7 when pulling through to create the puff stitch.} Crochet 1 Puff Stitch in the next 7 stitches. Turn your work. {Note: This pattern features a Puff Stitch which can be a bit tricky to explain. I have a helpful video tutorial below that should be very useful.}

Row 2– Chain 2, crochet 1 Puff Stitch in the same stitch. Crochet 1 Puff Stitch in the next 6 stitches. Crochet 1 Puff Stitch in the top of ‘Chain 2’ from the previous row. Turn your work.
Row 3 – 47– Repeat row 2. {Note: You can either add or take away a few rows, depending on your head’s circumference.}
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
Taking your tapestry needle, sew both ends of the headband together.
