Cherry Cowl Crochet Pattern

I’ve created over a dozen chunky scarves since I first started crocheting, but not once had I ever thought to design a lightweight cowl… Until now!

I don’t have a clue why I didn’t crochet one before, as this cowl is so soft and delicate, but will help to keep me warm and snugly on those chillier autumn days!

Materials

4.00mm Crochet Hook
300g 8ply
Yarn (DK) – King Cole Cottonsoft

Tapestry/Yarn Needle
Scissors
Size
Fits 13 Years & Up

Width: 14.5″
Length: 26″

Gauge

5 rows x 11 stitches in dc = 2 inches

Pattern

Sole
Taking your 4.00mm crochet hook and DK yarn, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 134 Chains. {Note: To adjust your cowls’s length, either add or take away sets of 6 foundation chains.}
Row 1~ Crochet 1 Single Crochet into the second chain from your hook. *Skip 2 stitches. Crochet 5  Double Crochets in the next stitch. Skip 2 stitches. Crochet 1 Single Crochet in the next stitch. Repeat from the * 22 times.
Row 2~ Chain 2, crochet 2 Double Crochets in the same stitch. Skip 2 stitches. *Crochet 1 Single Crochet in the next stitch. Skip 2 Stitches. Crochet 5 Double Crochets in the next stitch. Skip 2 stitches. Repeat from the * 21 times. Crochet 1 Single Crochet in the next stitch. Skip 2 stitches. Crochet 3  Double Crochets in the next/last stitch.
Row 3~ Chain 1, crochet 1 Single Crochet in the same stitch. *Skip 2 stitches. Crochet 5  Double Crochets in the next stitch. Skip 2 stitches. Crochet 1 Single Crochet in the next stitch. Repeat from the * 22 times.
Row 4 – 44~  {Note: You can either add or take away a couple sets of row 2 – 3, if you’d like a shorter or longer cowl.}
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
Taking your tapestry needle, sew both ends of the cowl together to create a circle.

 Hope you all enjoyed this pattern for a fashionable red cowl!

If you did crochet this, please post a photo of your creation onto my Facebook Page.
I’d love to see it!

 Have a lovely day crocheting,

    How many crochet patterns can a girl come up with? I have no clue how you do it, but I'm definitely glad that you do!

      Haha trust me, it's a challenge! But as much work as it is, I do enjoy every minute of it, and it always brightens my day when someone appreciates it 🙂

    I've finished row 1, but not sure about Row 2…about turning and starting row 2?? Do you have a photo of the cowl laid out flat? Thanks

    Having trouble understanding row 2. Where do you put the first stitch at the beginning?

    Does row 4 repeat row one? Then 5 is row 3 etc? Or am I only repeating row 2 on row 4 then row 3 for row 5 etc?

      Sorry my prior comment had a typo. Does row 4 repeat row one? Then 5 is row 2 etc? Or am I only repeating row 2 on row 4 then row 3 for row 5 and throughout?
