Newborn Mouse Hat Crochet Pattern

I’ve never been a big fan of mice… Unless they’re animated!
There’s just something about giving them a high pitched voice and a pair of colourful pants that helps to make them so loveable and cute!

What You’ll Need

10.00mm Crochet Hook
4.50mm Crochet Hook
60g Super Bulky Yarn {14ply} – I used Lincraft Luxe
5g Light Pink DK Yarn {8ply}
Tapestry/Wool Needle
Scissors

Finished Size
Newborn, 0 – 3 Months Old
{Head Circumference 13.5 inches, 34cm. Hat Height 5.5 inches, 14cm}


~ Hat ~

Round 1~ Taking your 10.00mm crochet hook and super bulky yarn, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 2 Chains. Crochet 8 Half Double Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet. You should have 8 stitches now.
Round 2~ Chain 1, crochet 2 Half Double Crochets in the same stitch.Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet. You should have 16 stitches now.
Round 3~ Chain 1, then crochet a 2 Half Double Crochets into the same stitch. *Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet into the next 2 stitches. Then crochet 2 Half Double Crochets in the next stitch.  Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet. You should have 22 stitches now.
Round 4 – 8~ Chain 1, crochet 1 Half Double Crochet in the same stitch. Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet.
Round 9~ Chain 1, crochet 1 Single Crochet in the same stitch. Crochet 1 Single Crochet into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the first single crochet.
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
~ Ears ~

Outer Ear
Round 1~ Taking your 10.00mm crochet hook and super bulky yarn, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 3 Chains. Crochet 10 Double Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the first double crochet. You should have 10 stitches now.
Round 2~ Chain 2, then crochet 2 Double Crochets into the same stitch. Crochet 2 Double Crochets into every stitch all
around. Slip Stitch into the first double crochet. You should have 20 stitches now.

Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

Inner Ear
Round 1~ Taking your 4.50mm crochet hook and DK yarn, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 2 Chains. Crochet 10 Half Double Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet. You should have 10 stitches now.

Round 2~ Chain 1, crochet 2 Half Double Crochets in the
same stitch. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets into every stitch all
around. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet. You should have 20 stitches now.

Round 3~ Chain 1, crochet 2 Half Double Crochets into the same stitch. *Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet into the next stitch. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets into the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet. You should have 30 stitches now.
Round 4~ Chain 1, crochet 1 Single Crochet in the same stitch. Crochet 1 Single Crochet into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the first single crochet.
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

Repeat entire ear pattern once more to make a pair.
Taking your tapestry needle, sew both outer ears to the top of your hat,
making sure they’re evenly spaced out. Then sew the inner ears
inside of the outer ears. 
Now, taking your tapestry needle and some yarn, stitch a nose and whiskers onto the front of your hat.
