Aurora Headband Crochet Pattern

I thought I’d squeeze out one last summer-y pattern, before I delve into the wonderful world of thick and chunky yarn!
Do you prefer crocheting summer or winter accessories? 

 
What You’ll Need

3.50mm Crochet Hook
50g of 8ply {DK} Cotton Yarn
Tapestry/Wool Needle
Scissors
Finished Size
This headband fits all sizes.
{Easily adjustable, as explained in pattern}

Row 1~ Taking your 3.50mm crochet hook and DK cotton yarn, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 4 Chains. Crochet 2 Double Crochets into the third chain from your hook. Chain 2.
Crochet 3 Double Crochets into the next stitch.
Row 2-37~ Chain 2. Crochet 3 Double Crochets into the “Chain 2” space you made in the previous row. Chain 2. Crochet 3 Double Crochets into the “Chain 2” space again. {Note: You can either add or take away a couple of extra rows depending on your head’s circumference.}
Taking your tapestry needle, sew the two ends of your headband together to form a circle.
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

~ Rosette ~ 

Center 
Round 1~ Taking your 3.50mm crochet hook and DK cotton yarn, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 2 Chains. Crochet 7 Single Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 2. You should have 8 single crochets now.
Round 2~ Chain 1, then crochet a Single Crochet into the same stitch. *Crochet 1 Single Crochet. Then crochet 2 Single Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 1. You should have 12 single crochets now.
Round 3~ Chain 1. Crochet 1 Single Crochet into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 1.
Round 4~ Chain 1. *Crochet 1 Single Crochet Decrease. Then crochet 1 Single Crochet in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 1. You should have 8 single crochets now.
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

Second Petal Layer
Round 1~ Taking your 3.50mm crochet hook and DK cotton yarn, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 3 Chains. Crochet 11 Half Double Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 12 half double crochets now.
Round 2~ Chain 2, then crochet a Half Double Croche into the same stitch. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 2. You should have 24 half double crochets now.
Round 3~ Chain 2. Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 2.
Round 4~ Chain 1. Crochet 1 Single Crochet into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 1.
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

Third Petal Layer 
Round 1~ Taking your 3.50mm crochet hook and DK cotton yarn, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 3 Chains. Crochet 15 Double Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 16 double crochets now.
Round 2~ Chain 2, then crochet a Double Crochet into the same stitch. Crochet 2 Double Crochets into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 2. You should have 32 double crochets now.
Round 3~ Chain 2. Crochet 1 Double Crochet into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 2.
Round 4~ Chain 1. Crochet 1 Single Crochet into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 1.
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

Now, place the center inside the second petal layer. Then, place the second petal layer inside of the third petal layer. Sew them together.
Repeat full rosette pattern twice.
Repeat rosette pattern twice again.{Note: For these 2 flowers you should only crochet the center and second flower layer before joining them together. Do not crochet the third layer.}

Taking your tapestry
needle, sew all your rosettes onto your headband, making sure to space them out evenly. {Note: I sewed my two smaller flowers at the ends, and sewed my three larger flowers in the center.}
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
