I just adore Butterflies! They always seem to look like flying flower petals to me 🙂
I crocheted the extra large butterfly to go on one of my beanies.

Extra Large Butterfly Crochet Pattern
Supplies:
6-8ply Wool
4.50 Crochet Hook
Scissors
DMC Cross Stitch Floss

Instructions:
Start by crocheting 4 Chain Stitches. Slip Stitch into the first chain stitch to form a ring.
Crochet 4 chain stitches, then crochet 3 double Treble/Triple Stitches into the ring.
Chain 4 then slip stitch into the ring. *Repeat Once

Crochet 3 chain stitches. Then crochet 3 Treble/Triple Stitches into the ring. Then crochet 3 chain stitches the slip stitch into the ring. * Repeat Once
Fasten off.
Create abdomen and antennae by wrapping DMC floss around the middle.
Voila! Your butterfly is done!

Hey Somer! When you get to the end of a sentence and it says *repeat you need to repeat from the start of the sentence once 🙂 Hope this helps! Xx

In the first part of the pattern, it says double treble/triple. I know how to do both, but I'm not positive which one I need to do, since in US terms, a double is a UK treble. Or vice versa. I don't remember which. haha

Thank you for this easy pattern. I will be making these for Threads of Love Society for the memory boxes for the parents who have lost their little ones.

What kind of dental floss did you use? I've checked at Joan's and MIchael's and they could not help. Can you suggest a store or website where this floss can be found? thanks

It looks like embroidery thread to me. Another name would be floss in some circles.

Soooo cute. I would probably use metallic gold for the body and antenna. Or some could be silver.

    Hi Olivia,
I hope you are having a wonderful creative day! So I clicked on the double treble triple stitch to get the “how to” video on YouTube but it stated that the video was not available. Then I went to your website and couldn’t find the place for crochet stitches. Not sure if you know about YouTube not having the video. Just wanted you to know. I’ll find the stitch somewhere online. Hope this helps. You are awesome and I love your patterns!

Is it a double treble crochet or treble crochet? After you chain stitch do you put these into the ring or just add the treble to them. I come away with chain stitches by themselves when done?
