How To: Crochet The Star Stitch – Easy Tutorial

The sound of sand crunching underfoot mixed with the crisp, salty air of the harbor blankets you in the tranquility of the sea. Walking along the shoreline is a constant source of creative inspiration for myself, as within moments I’m discovering little treasures and secret creatures hidden within the rock pools – From prickly sea urchins to starfish delicately dancing across the seafloor in a kaleidoscope of colors.

Being an avid admirer of these little creatures, I couldn’t help but want to share this quirky and beautifully detailed stitch with you all… Due to it’s repetitive and simple steps, this is the ideal stitch to use while relaxing by the shoreline on a quiet Saturday morning!

The Star Stitch creates a thick yet extremely cosy fabric, making this a great choice when crocheting sturdy baskets or snuggly afghans, as the unique design and texture of this stitch pairs well with colourful projects!

Learning a new crochet stitch or technique is always such fun, don’t you agree? If you’re keen to challenge yourself this weekend (as you’re cozied up by the fireplace), you’re in luck as this helpful step-by-step video tutorial will guide you through all the necessary steps needed to learn the “Star Stitch“, in an easy to follow speed!

Haha Your tutorials are the best , you take your time and show how to do the stitches in slow easy steps, which is what those of us still learning need. You’re like a breath of fresh air. Your nephew is adorable – such a handsome model. Have a God filled day , love you.

I believe its 6 ch per star. However I always ad at least 20 more chains at the start, just so I dont run out of chains. this way you can always cut out chains you dont need after your first row. So,
        6 ch per star x 11 stars = 66ch + 10 extra just in case.

Would you be willing and able to provide stitch counts for rows? I am trying to make a baby blanket and keep having to restart because I’m either getting wider or narrower. A stitch count would help keep me on track. I have been very careful restarting this time. With a chain of 101, the first row also had 101 stitches, but the 2nd row has 99. Does that make sense? I’m not sure why the numbers are different or if in fact they should be. Any insights you could provide would be very much appreciated!
