Who here can believe that Halloween is less than 2 weeks away?!
This past year has just flown by, which is a bit scary (excuse the pun) but also very exciting… It also means Christmas is just around the corner, which is something to look forward to, as it’s always full of family, friends, carols and memories.
Do you feel this year has gone by far too quickly? It’s been quite a while since I created my Mike Wazowski and Sulley inspired baby hats!

What You’ll Need
7.00mm Crochet Hook
Chunky Yarn {12ply} – King Cole Comfort Chunky
Scissors
Tapestry/Wool Needle
Black & White Felt

Size Available

Newborn, 0 – 3 Months Old
{Head Circumference 13.5 inches, 34cm. Hat Height 5 inches, 13cm}

{Head Circumference 15 inches, 38cm. Hat Height 6 inches, 15cm}

Colours

{This is the list of colours I used}

Rnd 1- Taking your 7.00mm crochet hook and chunky yarn (grape), start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 2 Chains. Crochet 8 Half Double Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet. You should have 8 stitches now.
Rnd 2- Chain 1, then crochet 2 Half Double Crochets into the same stitch. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet. You should have 16 stitches now.

Then crochet 2 Half Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet. You should have 27 stitches. {Note: Skip this round if you’re crocheting the newborn size.}
Rnd 5 – 12- Chain 1, then crochet 1 Half Double Crochet into the same stitch. Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet. {Note: Skip one round if you’re crocheting the newborn size.}

Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

Eye
Rnd 1- Taking your 7.00mm crochet hook and chunky yarn (white), start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 2 Chains. Crochet 6 Single Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the first single crochet. You should have 6 stitches now.
Rnd 2- Chain 1, then crochet 2 Single Crochets into the same stitch. Crochet 2 Single Crochets into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the first single crochet. You should have 12 stitches now.
Rnd 3- Chain 1, then crochet 2 Single Crochets into the same stitch. *Crochet 1 Single Crochet in the next stitch. Then crochet 2 Single Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the first single crochet. You should have 18 stitches now.

Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

Taking your black felt, cut out a circle measuring approx 2″ in diameter. Sew the black piece of felt on top of the white eye you just crocheted. Cut out a small piece of white felt, and sew it in the corner of the black felt.
Now sew the entire completed eye onto the hat, right at the front.

Freckles
Rnd 1- Taking your 5.00mm crochet hook and chunky yarn (dill), start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 2 Chains. Crochet 6 Single Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the first single crochet. You should have 6 stitches now.
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

Repeat freckle pattern 6 times. Then sew 3 freckles on each side of the eye, towards the bottom of the hat.

Pompom
Make a 4″ pompom using both yarn colours (grape and dill). Taking the tapestry/wool needle, attach the pompom to the top of the hat. {Note: I used a Clover pompom maker}
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

Hope you all enjoyed this Halloween pattern!
If you did crochet this, please post a photo of your creation onto my Facebook Page.
