Who else here can’t wait for the new Star Wars movie to come out?!
Growing up I always anticipated the weekends, since that usually meant renting some movies (the good ole VHS type) which often resulted in a Star Wars marathon!
What were some of your favourite movies growing up?

What You’ll Need

10.00mm Crochet Hook
100g Super Bulky Yarn {14ply} – I used Lincraft Luxe
Scissors
Tapestry/Wool Needle

Finished Size
Pattern is made for 0 – 3 months old.
Changes for size 3 – 6 months and 6 – 12 months are in ( ).

Gauge
3 rows x 4 stitches in hdc = 2 inches

Rnd 1– Taking your 10.00mm crochet hook and super bulky yarn, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 2 Chains. Crochet 8 Half Double Crochets into the first chain you made. You should have 8 stitches now. Do not slip stitch into the first half double crochet of this round.
Rnd 2– Start crocheting in the first stitch from the previous round. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets in the first stitch. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets into every stitch all around. You should have 16 stitches now. Do not slip stitch into the first half double crochet of this round.
Rnd 3– Start crocheting in the first stitch from the previous round. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets in the first stitch. *Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet in the next stitch. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. You should have 24 stitches now. Do not slip stitch into the first half double crochet of this round. {Note: If you’re crocheting this hat for 0 – 3 month old, skip crocheting Rnd 4 and Rnd 5.}
Rnd 4– Start crocheting in the first stitch from the previous round. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets in the first stitch. *Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet in the next 2 stitches. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. You should have 32 stitches now. Do not slip stitch into the first half double crochet of this round. {Note: If you’re crocheting this hat for 3 – 6 month old, skip crocheting Rnd 5.}
Rnd 5– Start crocheting in the first stitch from the previous round. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets in the first stitch. *Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet in the next 3 stitches. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. You should have 40 stitches now. Do not slip stitch into the first half double crochet of this round.
Rnd 6 – 8– Start crocheting in the first stitch from the previous round. Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet in every stitch all around. Do not slip stitch into the first half double crochet of this round. {Note: If you’re creating the 3 – 6 month size, add 1 extra round. If you’re creating the 6 – 12 month size, add 2 extra rounds.}

Crochet 1 Single Crochet in the next stitch. Crochet 1 Slip Stitch in the next stitch.
Fasten off, weave in loose ends.

Princess Leia Braided Buns
To create the buns you’ll need to cut 15 strands of yarn making sure each strand measures 38 inches.
Taking 15 strands of yarn, create a knot at the end. Braid the 15 strands together till you reach the end. Roll the braid up into a circle, and sew together. Sew the braided bun onto the side of the beanie.
Repeat the above steps to create a bun for the other side of the beanie.

Hope you all enjoyed this Star Wars inspired pattern!
If you did crochet this, please post a photo of your creation onto my Facebook Page.
I’d love to see it!
Have a lovely day crocheting,

    So gorgeous! I have memories of Mum doing my hair as Princess Leia when I was a girl – probably the influence of three Star Wars crazy brothers!

    This is great! I have a friend who's little girl is 2 and a half. How many stitches would you suggest increasing to in order to fit a child her age? Thanks in advance, I really want to make this hat!

    Looks great! I'd be glad to make it for my wife, if only there was an adult version… I'd probably have to make the braid thicker in addition to increasing number of stitches here and there.

    Oh my gosh! Love this. My daughter is currently quite taken with Leia. I think I found an easy Christmas present!

    I LOVE this! Any chance you would do a video? I'm still learning to crochet and such a visual learner, I can't seem to make anything unless I see it actually being done.

    I'm worried it's too small! And I sized up on everything!!! But it's the cutest thing ever. My stuffed animal is wearing it right now.
