Friends ~ DIY Safety Pin Bracelet

November 30, 2012 Category: DIY / Patterns

I have one of the most amazing friends in the world! She’s always been very supportive, loving, funny and just an all round awesome friend!
I definitely think friends are one of the very BIG reasons life can be so special!

One of my best friends and I made these cute safety pin bracelets, and I thought I’d share the tutorial with you guys!

I’m sorry the lighting isn’t the best in the “How To” photos, but I was so busy having fun making these with her that I didn’t really pay attention, whoopsy!

What You’ll Need:
*Packet of 15mm (1″Inch) Safety Pins
*Elastic Thread
*Seed Beads
*Spacer Beads (These will be used between your safety pins so they’ll need to be bigger than seed beads)
*Scissors
*Chain Nose Pliers (Optional)

 Instagram

 Instructions:
Step 1~ Start of by measuring your wrist with your elastic making sure to leave an extra 30cm (12′ Inches) of elastic before cutting it with your scissors. Cut another piece of elastic the same length as the one you just cut.
Step 2~ Open up your safety pins and start threading on your seed beads in the order that you want them. If you’re going to make a pattern with your beads, you’ll need to keep in mind that every second safety pin will be threaded onto your elastic upside down to make sure the bracelet is even.
You’ll need to make a LOT of beaded safety pins!
(Optional Step) What I did to secure my safety pins from falling off of my bracelet was I clamped the top opening area with a pair of chain nose pliers.
Step 3~ Start threading your safety pins onto your elastic, making sure to alternate tops and bottoms. After every 3 safety pins I added a spacer bead (My spacer beads were silver flowers and my friends ones were small green beads)
Step 4~ Once you’ve reached your desired length, tie the top elastic together, and the ones at the bottom together. Cut off any extra elastic.
You’re done! I hope you all enjoyed that cute and easy tutorial!
These bracelets don’t take too long to make, and they will be great Christmas gifts for your friends!

If you did make a bracelet please post a photo of it too my Facebook Page!
It would mean the world to me!
Have a lovely day crafting everyone!

Oh My! You just took me back to my childhood (in the 80's) when my sister and I made these but instead we pinned them to the laces of our tennis shoes! Ahhhh the innocence of childhood days….. Now where did I put my safety pins so I can make one of these bracelets and send it to my sister????? LOL Thank you Olivia!

I don't know who you are. Don't even know your name I wish we could talk but I don't have a number to call. So hold your hand up if you hear me, I've been searching but all that I found Is everywhere that I go, is standing alone in the crowd Maybe you're right here in front of me Am I looking too hard, it's hard to see Oh, give me a sign; I'm starting to wonder if you've lost your way I've been right here waiting patiently, Your lane should be right here next to me I need you tonight, think of you all of the time. thank you

It’s wonderful to cherish such friendships! Making bracelets sounds like a fun activity. Remember those carefree days? It reminds me of the simple joy of managing Papa’s Pizzeria, just pure unadulterated fun. Friends like yours truly make life so much richer. Keep creating and sharing those precious moments!
