"Changing Colors" I Like Crochet Features + Review!

Wind dancing it's way through the sparse tree branches, carrying newly-turned red leaves your way with every chilly gust - Sure signs that autumn is on it's way.
Apple picking in a crisp orchard, or selecting the perfect pumpkin for carving, it's definitely still warm enough to head into the great outdoors with the help of a trusty scarf, beanie or poncho!

Capture the beauty of autumn through the bold, cosy and colorful designs in the latest issue of I Like Crochet (featuring 27+ classic designs - available on iPad and Desktop)!.. Toasty, cosy, and beautifully textured, giving you yet another reason to pick up your hooks and and create something new to wear on a jolting hayride or brisk stroll through the forest.

This latest issue is a pretty big deal for me as well, as a handful of my designs were featured! If you're interested to see what I've been working on recently, stick around as I'll be going into vivid detail below about the inspiration behind every single piece.

From intricate scarves to a spook-tacular collection of darling dress-ups (the Frightfully Adorable Baby Bat Set being my favourite), get ready to 'Fall' in love with this bundle of quirky designs with me!

With the blustery weather slowly starting to creep in, there's nothing better than having a cosy sweater to snuggle in. Casual, chic and oh so comfy, the Autumn Garden Sweater ticks all the boxes. From it's sharp colour changes to the quirky pocket, this one-of-a-kind sweater will quickly become a staple in your autumn wardrobe! Using a dense stitch along with these fall-inspired colors, this sweater is the perfect fit for any crisp fall afternoon!

For this particular design I decided I wanted to use a snuggly yet boldly coloured wool, and immediately knew that Drops Nepal was the ideal fit! Since the start of my crochet journey, Drops yarns and I have been on wonderful terms (some might even call us best friends), and once again their yarns didn't disappoint as I worked up this stylish sweater.

As cool and chilly as fall can be, with it comes a vibrant burst of colour, leaves and flowers in the most beautiful, warm hues! The flair and drama of The Eternal Poppy Poncho will make a major fashion statement this season, whilst the darling poppies along the bottom add a hint of whimsy and a beautiful reminder of how the earth laughs in flowers.

Picking the ideal yarn for this design was a bit tricky, so the very moment I stumbled upon Berroco Weekend it was love at first sight. Without a doubt I knew this yarn was the perfect fit. It was so smooth and soft to work with - effortlessly gliding over my crochet hook! From the warm yet feminine hues to the incredible stitch definition, working with this yarn was an absolute pleasure...

Blustery afternoons are becoming more and more prominent as we wander into a frosty winter. In need of some extra layers to keep you warm and toasty while you enjoy chilly strolls through the park?.. Why not loosely drape or knot up The Wintertide Hike Scarf for that stylish touch to your outfit - Oversized designs are in this season... And don't even get me started on the fluffy tassel and pompom trends you can spot around every corner!

I know I've gushed about this particular wool dozens of times in the past, but I can't help not to as We Are Knitters The Wool is some of the squishiest wool I've ever worked with, not to mention that due to it's chunkiness any design works up lickity split!

  • Leaves changing colours, mugs full to the brim with hot chocolate and cosy afternoons snuggling by a toasty fire; Autumn is in full swing here! Don't waste a single minute, as this is the season for luscious yarns and wools and for finally delving into those cosy, chunky patterns we all know and love... Still on the hunt for that perfect crochet project to whip up? Luckily for you, the latest issue is overflowing with 27+ classic patterns to crochet some staples for your autumn wardrobe!
  • Lazy evenings cuddling up with a warm latte are pure perfection... Which can happily become even more cosy with the help of a snuggly Buttercream Afghan to keep those chilly toes and feet warm. Need a pillow to prop your head up as you enjoy a new book? The Snowberry Pillow is at your service - a quick yet beautifully textured crochet design.
  • Enjoy long walks on cool, crisp autumn mornings? Good, because blustery weather is here and the days are only going to continue getting chillier and chillier! To combat the cold, and keep the coolness at bay, it's time to start crocheting those quirky autumnal designs to add to your closet. With several hats to pick and choose from to the delightful Sugar & Fig Cowl (pictured below), you'll have something new and cosy to wear every day!
