X Marks The Spot ~ Granny Square Pattern

 I love granny squares! They can create the most beautiful Blankets and Bags. I thought it was about time I shared a pattern for one :)
So here's one of the granny squares I've made, as well as it's pattern! I loved crocheting this square because of the gorgeous X it has in the center, makes it unique!



Materials:
3.00 Crochet Hook
3 ply Cotton Yarn
Wool or Tapestry Needle
Scissors

OR 
If you don't have those things, you can still crochet the square with these items!
4.00 Crochet Hook
8ply Yarn

Instructions:

Round 1~ Start by making a Slip Knot. Chain 4 (this counts as a double crochet and one chain) Double Crochet into the chain furthest away from your crochet hook. (The furthest chain is the ring) Chain 3 * double crochet into the ring. Chain 1, double crochet in the ring, chain 3. Repeat from * twice. Join with a Slip Stitch to the third chain of your previous chain 4. (8 double crochets).
Round 2~  Chain 4 (this counts as a double crochet and one chain). Double crochet in the next stitch, chain 1. * Double crochet in the chain 3 space, chain 3, double crochet again into the chain 3 space, chain 1. Double crochet in the next stitch, chain one. Double crochet in the next stitch, chain one. * Repeat from * all around. Join with a slip stitch to the third chain of your previous chain 4.


Round 3~ Chain 4 (this counts as a double crochet and one chain). Double crochet in the next stitch, and chain 1 two times. * Double crochet in the chain 3 space, chain 3, double crochet again into the chain 3 space, chain 1. Double crochet in the next stitch, chain one four times. Repeat from * all around. Join with a slip stitch to the third chain of your previous chain 4.
Round 4~ Chain 4 (this counts as a double crochet and one chain). Double crochet in the next stitch, and chain 1 three times. * Double crochet in the chain 3 space, chain 3, double crochet again into the chain 3 space, chain 1. Double crochet in the next stitch, chain one six times. Repeat from * all around. Join with a slip stitch to the third chain of your previous chain 4.
Round 5~  Chain 4 (this counts as a double crochet and one chain). Double crochet in the next stitch, and chain 1 four times. * Double crochet in the chain 3 space, chain 3, double crochet again into the chain 3 space, chain 1. Double crochet in the next stitch, chain one eight times. Repeat from * all around. Join with a slip stitch to the third chain of your previous chain 4.


Round 6~  Chain 1, Single Crochet in the same stitch. *Single crochet in each chain one space, and crochet 5 single crochets in the corner space. Repeat from * three times. Join with a slip stitch to the chain you previously made.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
