Flower Power ~ Easy Rosette Crochet Pattern
Flowers are amazingly delicate yet beautiful! I’ve always been slightly obsessed with them during my life, so it’s no wonder that I love to crochet flowers!
I’m always putting them on my crochet projects, since they really have that gift to make anything look ten times more special!!
I’ve decided to share how I crochet my flowers ๐
Instructions:
Start of by taking your 4.50mm crochet hook and making a Slip Knot, then crochet 76 Chains. {If you’d like your flower to be larger simply add sets of 3 chains till you’ve reached your desired length.}
Row 1~ Chain 2, skip 2 chains from your hook, then crochet Half Double Crochets all across into every chain.
Row 3~ Chain 3 then crochet 3 Double Crochets
into the first loop you made in the previous row. Chain 3 then slip
stitch down into the loop. Then make a slip stitch into the next loop.
Keep repeating this order of stitches all across finishing off with a
slip stitch. These will be your rose petals.
In the photo above I did it quite loosely to show you all how to do it.
If you want the flower flattish, make it quite open and loose, almost
as loose as the one in the photo above, or if you want it thicker and
chunkier you’ll have to lay it tighter and more on top of each other.
When you’ve decided which way you’d like it, take your wool needle and
just start sewing it together using the 30cm strand of yarn you leftover before.
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
I’d love to see it! Please Subscribe to my blog, it would really make my day!

Just wanted to commend you and say thanks for this tutorial. This was my first crochet project ever (I'm a knitter and wanted to add some crochet flowers to some hats I'm knitting for my baby girl that is due in December), and by following your well-explained tutorial, I was able to make a flower that I am quite proud of. Thanks so much for sharing!
Olivia says
That's great! I'm so happy you were easily able to understand it! ๐
My birthday is actually in December! I'm sure she'll look beautiful in your hats.

It would be nice to know how large this flower would be?

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I've been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.

Beautiful! I love this! The only part that confused me was the double crochet part. It wasn't clear at first to crochet it to the previously made chain of 3. Once I figured that out, it was very clear! Thanks! It's gorgeous!

Hello,
After you've crocheted the long flower strip, roll it up into a round rosette. Then taking a tapestry needle and some yarn, join the layers together ๐

Absolutely wonderful directions and very easy flower. My daughter and I are trying to raise money for a missions trip to China with her church youth group and we have been searching for new flowers and things to add to our creations. This was by far the easiest one to do and the easiest to follow. I am currently working on the beautiful 20's hat and can't wait to finish. My daughter has also used one of your patterns for an ear warmer and she finished it very quickly. Thank you very much for the time you have taken to share all of these patterns with us. I feel the same way about creating things, it never ceases to amaze me at the ability that the Lord has given me and that anything is possible. I LOVE creating!!!! thank you again, have a blessed weekend.

I have a question about a pattern. Now, I must inform you that it's not one of your patterns, I absolutely love your patterns. I found a pattern for a character hat that is in sc. Would I follow the same pattern if I were to use hdc stitches instead? I feel that there would need to be an adjustment, however, I am not that crochet savvy yet.
Karen O says
nice pattern. Just made one but added a few stitches. Do you glue to hat or pin?
Bunnie says
Your directions call for 8-ply yarn. Do I use 2 strands of regular 4-ply worsted which is what we all have, or did you mean to use our regular 4-ply yarn and not 8-ply? I'm really eager to make this full-petaled flower as shown but I'm afraid it won't turn out like yours if I just use one strand 4-ply regular yarn.
Olivia Kent says
Hello,
No, 8ply is different from 4ply. Another name used for 8ply yarn is DK (Double Knitting).
Hope this helps!

I love this little flower but there's no way to print. How can I print the pattern?
TalkerCat M. says
I wanted to print also. Instead had to keep the page open and follow along on the computer. Easy enough, except I couldn't take my work with me … had to stay stationary at my work desk.
TalkerCat M. says
I loved this little flower. Used it to embelish diaper covers in different colors. This baby girl has a garden for her tiny butt ๐

Hello
I am a bit of a beginner and just made your lovely cloche hat with the rosette. I canโt work out how to sew up the flower to look like the photo. It just looks like a big blob. So I came to your site to see if you have a tutorial and this blue rosette is obviously very similar. But I STILL donโt understand how to sew it up. Iโve tried all sorts. Do you mean sew the chain rows together as you go round in a spiral? Is there a YouTube anywhere? Thanks for your help
